Pitch Submission Guidelines

Pitch Submission Guidelines for WHERE San Diego Magazine and Performances Magazine, San Diego.

If you’d like to pitch an event, venue or person for editorial coverage in Arrived San Diego, Performances Magazine (San Diego edition), San Diego-specific stories for SoCalPulse.com and/or the Weekend Roundup, please note the following guidelines to ensure that your pitch is appropriate and reaches the correct person in a timely manner.

For Arrived San Diego and Performances Magazine, San Diego:

1) The mission of Arrived San Diego is to inform visitors of the best things to do, see and eat in San Diego County. If you’re not sure whether Arrived is the appropriate publication for your pitch, please review our digital edition Arrived San Diego.

The mission of Performances Magazine, San Diego, is to preview productions in San Diego’s performing arts community, as well as arts & culture happenings: plays, musicals, ballet, symphony, opera, dance, concerts, gallery and museum exhibits, book reviews, and cultural events. Performances also features travel, dining and wine columns.

Note that Arrived cannot cover/print:

  • Events, venues or services based outside of S.D. County
  • Events that take place in the same month in which you’re sending your pitch (see #3)
  • Mobile applications, websites, TV shows, films or other media unless in the context of a special event (e.g. a public film festival)
  • Travel and lodging news, tips, offers, etc.
  • Post-event wrap-ups and photos

2) Send pitches to Sarah Daoust, editor of Arrived San Diego and Performances Magazine, San Diego to Sarah.Daoust@WhereSD.com

3) Arrived San Diego’s lead time is two months. Please submit materials no later than 6 weeks in advance of event date/desired publication month.

4) Limit follow-up emails to one. No phone calls, please.

For the San Diego Weekend Roundup:

1) The Weekend Roundup is a feature on the website that highlights the best things to do during that specific weekend.

Note that we cannot cover/post:

  • Events, venues or services based outside of San Diego County, unless there is a firm San Diego angle.
  • Mobile applications, websites, TV shows, films or other media unless in the context of a special event (e.g., a public film festival)
  • Travel and lodging news, tips, offers, etc.

2) Send Weekend Roundup pitches to Sarah Daoust, San Diego at Sarah.Daoust@WhereSD.com

3) The lead time for the Weekend Roundup is two weeks (or more) ahead of the event date that you are pitching.

4) Limit follow-up emails to one. No phone calls, please.
